From a place to a flight plan

Start with a simple plan. Add detail when you need it. Nothing here launches a drone.

  1. Choose the job. Select your aircraft and mission. The planner supplies editable starting settings.
  2. Find the right place. Search an address or coordinates. Check the building and surroundings in the imagery; imagery can be old.
  3. Draw what matters. For an area mission, click around its edge and choose Finish. For a simple flight, click the route points. Tower missions use a center; façades use a wall line.
  4. Make it yours. Set takeoff where you will launch. Drag outline corners to change the area. Epic video also lets you pick a side, a full orbit, and a camera focus. Open Edit waypoints for individual positions and heights.
  5. Preview, check, then download. Open Review mission. Play the simulated flight, check weather, airspace, obstacles and battery estimates, then choose a download for your aircraft. Save the project to return later.
What do these words mean?

Waypoint: a point the drone is planned to visit. Focus: what the camera points toward. Clearance: extra space you allow around or above obstacles. Height above takeoff: height relative to the launch point, not the changing ground below. Reserve: time kept out of the usable battery estimate.

For experienced pilots

Use Flight limits for overlap, rotation, camera angle, reserve and point limits. Mission-specific sections contain detailed camera and shot controls. Edit waypoints preserves a custom route; rebuild explicitly to apply automatic path settings again. Review downloads include the field PDF and available controller / GIS formats.

The map and demo are planning aids. A responsible pilot must check the real site, aircraft, permissions, weather and every flight leg. For video, verify the imported start/stop recording actions; the app plans shots but does not create the finished footage.

Printable route diagram, flight log, camera notes and equipment checklist. Download to your phone or print on US Letter paper.

Battery estimate: one fresh pack per planned flight plus spares. Mission reserve still applies; actual endurance varies. These packing assumptions do not raise your mission flight limits.

Demo flightSIMULATION ONLY

Choose a flight above, then play the demo.

Route and photo-stop visualization only. Takeoff, return-to-home, wind, collision avoidance and terrain are not simulated. No aircraft connection or commands.

S = first point · E = last point · ⌂ = takeoff. Labels show horizontal ground distances; zoom in for shorter legs. Route distance includes height changes and excludes takeoff/return travel. Amber outlines are site measurements.

Hourly forecast & why each window fits

Wind and gusts are near-surface forecasts, not wind at your flight height. Conditions around buildings and towers can differ. Sun angles are approximate, clockwise from true north; terrain and building shadows are not modeled. For crop surveys, confirm stable illumination on site. These suggestions do not verify visibility, cloud clearance, airspace, or permission to fly. Recheck before takeoff.

YOUR FINAL CHECK STAYS IN AUTOPYLOT

Airspace reference

See FAA reference layers on the review map, then verify your complete route, altitude and flight time in AutoPylot.

Amber: facility grids · Purple: class airspace · Orange: special use · Red: security / prohibited. Click a shape for details. Grid ceilings are feet above ground (AGL); mission heights are above takeoff and are not directly comparable over changing terrain. Features may lie nearby or above the mission. A blank map never means cleared airspace. This layer set omits live TFRs, NOTAMs, temporary activations, stadium restrictions and local rules. Auto-refresh every 5 minutes while review is open; source update dates are shown. FAA facility maps do not authorize flight.

LOOK BEYOND THE FLIGHT LINE

Obstacles & terrain awareness

Orange / red map shapes are caution references, not a complete obstacle survey. Trees, wires, towers and buildings may be missing or taller than their assumed heights. Cautions use horizontal proximity to the route, regardless of height. Terrain elevations do not include these objects.

Automatic terrain following is OFF. Exported heights stay relative to takeoff. The profile samples bare earth at 32 positions; hills between samples and takeoff/return transits are unchecked. Confirm the takeoff ground reference, survey accuracy and actual clearance before changing individual waypoint heights. No automatic route or height changes are made.

Return to your actual takeoff spot

Supported DJI KMZ flights request Go Home when finished. Reference-only aircraft downloads cannot command flight or return. Every MAVLink flight draft ends with RTL. The aircraft must record its actual home in the field; the map marker is for planning.

  1. Before each launch: wait for home confirmation and check its position on the controller.
  2. Check low-battery return, signal-loss behavior, return height, landing and return destination / rally settings in the controller.
  3. After a battery swap: confirm home again, then select the next flight or carefully review where to resume.

The planner cannot change aircraft failsafes or confirm its live home. Critical battery or navigation failure may force landing elsewhere. GIS/CSV files cannot command a return. Moving takeoff substantially requires recalculating heights and flight time.

Complete route & height preview

Illustrative geometry only. No terrain, obstacles or flight dynamics are simulated.

Use your flight software

MAVLink files are multicopter route drafts with heights relative to launch and ground-speed commands. Every MAVLink flight ends with Return to Launch (RTL), using aircraft return settings. Add takeoff, camera and gimbal actions in your flight software. Confirm actual home, home-return destination (including rally settings), landing, return height, low-battery and link-loss behavior before every launch. Planned home in the file is a planning reference. GIS/CSV formats cannot command return. Configure cinematic framing and smooth turns there. KML/GPX are 2D references with heights in notes; GeoJSON/CSV preserve waypoint metadata. No universal Autel, Parrot or Skydio import is implied.

DJI-only WPML exports are experimental. Verify aircraft, heights, camera actions and route in DJI Fly / Pilot 2 before use. Multispectral capture is configured in Pilot 2.

Multiple flights download as one ZIP. Open files in compatible flight or GIS software. Controller transfer is not included.

YOUR WORKSPACE

Your mission library.

Recall the same waypoints, camera angles and takeoff point for consistent repeat visits. Plan revisit creates a dated copy and preserves the original. Saving is optional. Delete mission moves it to Trash, where you can restore it and its saved versions. Shared deletion applies to all computers.

Open your shared library or import a project backup.

Go to coordinates

Use latitude first, longitude second unless compass directions identify the order. Supports decimal degrees (28.73278, -82.53847) or degrees/minutes/seconds (28°43'58"N, 82°32'18"W). West and south use a minus sign or W/S. This locates the map directly; no address lookup is needed.

Decimal degrees, degrees/minutes, and degrees/minutes/seconds are supported, with N/S/E/W or full direction names. Unlabelled pairs are latitude first. Projected coordinates (UTM, MGRS, State Plane) require conversion to WGS84 latitude/longitude. The planning map supports latitudes from 85°S to 85°N. Or enter each value below (this clears the pasted pair):

SITE AWARENESS

Give every obstacle room.

Load mapped buildings, trees, towers and power lines, or mark what you see on site. Assumed heights are editable planning placeholders—not surveyed measurements.

Remove public shapes together, including edited public heights. Your own obstacle pins remain.

Close this panel and drag the ! pin into position. For wires or a canopy, add several pins and increase their caution buffers to cover the span. Public map lines and footprints retain their mapped shape.

Save your mission to keep references and height corrections. Reloading public data preserves user pins and edited heights. Default assumptions: tree 60 ft, canopy 80 ft, building 35 ft, tower 150 ft, power infrastructure 80 ft; actual objects may be much taller. No automatic avoidance is performed. Your downloads

Downloads start automatically when ready. If one was blocked, choose Save beside the file to retry. Your browser decides whether to ask for a location or use its default folder. Check its Downloads list. A ready link confirms file preparation, not a completed disk save.

Links expire after 10 minutes, newer downloads or a server restart. Prepare the file again if needed. These are snapshots; export again after changing the mission.

SITE EXPLORER

Explore a point cloud or splat

Inspect a processed scan of your site. Files stay in this tab unless you explicitly create a LAN share. Shared snapshots contain the sampled scene and location; they are separate from saved missions. This viewer does not create point clouds from photos, change flight heights, or detect safe clearance.

Gaussian SPLAT / PLY: large-file reader with no fixed size or source-count cap, including multi-GB desktop scenes. At most 150,000 sampled records are displayed, not the full render. LAS / LAZ: 512 MiB / 100 million source points.

No cloud loaded

Your 3D site appears here.
Open a scan or try the sample above.

Drag to rotate · Shift-drag or right-drag to pan · Scroll or use +/− to zoom. Top uses file +Y up and +X right; this is not necessarily true north. Measurements snap to displayed points.

Supported files & measurement limits

Standard 32-byte .splat and vertex-only binary little-endian Gaussian .ply are supported. Splats use a sampled orthographic preview with base RGB colors, scales, rotations and opacity; higher-order lighting is omitted. Measurements are disabled for splats; sections show centers only. Plain mesh/point PLY, ASCII PLY, SPZ, KSPLAT and SOG are not supported. LAS 1.2–1.4, point formats 0–3 and 6–8; LAZ decoding is included locally. Waveform formats and streaming COPC are not supported. Larger clouds are sampled evenly by record number; small structures or wires may be missing. Cross-sections and CSV contain the displayed sample only. Distances are between selected points, not surfaces, and are approximate. No map alignment, automatic terrain following, volume processing or survey accuracy is inferred.

Keep the original file. Closing this panel keeps it in this tab; reloading or closing the page clears it. Closing during an import cancels that import. LAZ decoding uses laz-perf · Apache 2.0.

CHANGE YOUR PLAN

What would you like to change?

Adjust & recalculate

Keep: adjust heights, camera tilt, speed cap and flight limits. Other fields require Rebuild. A height change shifts points together; the minimum lifts only points below it.

The update is checked before replacing your route. Undo restores the previous plan. Review the new route, heights, travel and flight count before exporting.

My planning presets

Save aircraft, category and capture settings, without addresses, outlines or takeoff locations. Presets stay in this browser; download/import them to move between computers. Using a preset on an existing site rebuilds the route after a preview.

Review this KMZ import

Unsupported actions require a reference draft. Keep the original KMZ. This imports a single relative-height flight, not its original outline or multi-flight package.

Get this mission onto your controller

Choose the app you plan to fly with. We’ll show what the downloaded file can—and cannot—do.

This guide does not connect to a controller or start a flight. Always inspect the imported route and every camera action on the controller before flying.

Place your scan on the map

Overhead reference overlay with an optional 3D view. It does not change waypoints or verify obstacle clearance. Rebuild after changing alignment.

The sample's center is placed at these coordinates. Use 0.3048 for feet. Splats may have arbitrary scale: match recognizable features to the map. For Y up, −Z points north before rotation.

    Share a snapshot

Only these buttons save or share data. A LAN link uploads the sampled 3D scene and overlay to Spooky; anyone with network access and the link can view it. A downloaded ZIP contains an HTML map with the same data and can be forwarded outside your network. Internet is needed for the basemap. This is a sampled preview, not the original scan.

Links are snapshots. Recreate after edits. Revoking a link cannot retract downloaded copies. This LAN app has no per-user accounts. Overlays are separate from saved missions and clear on reload; keep a downloaded map or LAN link.
